Plymouth, NC to Elizabeth City, NC - 57 Miles

A quote for a windy day -

You never have the wind with you — either it is against you or you're having a good day. ~ Daniel BehrmanThe Man Who Loved Bicycles

Not that today was super windy, but it was overcast and rained the first 15 miles. Not a downpour but roads were wet and my sun glasses needed wipers.

Average speed today was a slow 11.6; total mileage for me was 51.5; and riding time was 4 hours and 25 minutes.

I took a ride that included a 3.5 mile bridge, there seemed to be a cross wind, and light rain, and a 2 lane highway with minimal shoulder, not my cup of tea.

A little further down the road there was a detour that added a few miles. So minus the SAG ride and plus the detour, and I ended up riding 51.5 miles today.

Breakfast at the hotel - 2 packages of oatmeal with raisins and walnuts

Denise unloading our bikes

And we were ready to roll again, and it had stopped raining

Having too much fun at the 2nd SAG stop at mile 30

One of the roads we rode today

A little bumpy but not too much traffic

The final SAG stop at mile 45

The back side of the hotel - looks like warehouse and is a tad dumpy.

I can see a nice Hampton Inn a few blocks away.

Dinner - salad, bread sticks, quinoa with vegetables, beef and broccoli and brownies

We lost a terrific member of our riding group yesterday. Mary's left foot was getting worse with every mile she rode and she decided it would be better to stop riding and not risk further injury.
Mary will be missed as we ride, stop at the SAG stops, and at the 5:30 cocktail time!  The other week Mary made some awesome hors d'oeuvres for cocktail time.
Hope to see you riding soon.
