Another hot day - my bike computer had it in the 90s. We started out with light rain (sprinkles), and ended with sun beating down.
The ride - 5 hours and 10 minutes; average speed 13.4, mileage 69.6. Maximum speed 55.3 - I wish, no idea where that number came from.
Ok - the itinerary was 81 miles, I took a bump from mile 45 to mile 58, and a detour added 4 miles, and I ended up riding 69.9 - a good day
Today was mostly 2 lane county roads (busy highways), lots of dump trucks going in both directions, logging trucks, cars and trucks all zooming; and rumble strips at the right edge of the lane.
I had a pit bull come into the road chasing after me - barking, it was right at my right foot, a logging truck was passing me on the left, I had no where to go - YIKES! YIKES!
Maybe I did pedal 55 MPH to get away.
A few miles later, this big German Shepard came charging and barking - I didn't notice the fence and immediately steered 2 feet to the left - thank goodness there was a fence and it was on the other side. I was still gun shy from the pit bull encounter.
I earned my Fat Tire!
And for me -
And dessert
Tomorrow 69 miles, forecast calls for rain in the morning then clearing.
